By far the biggest game changer. If you haven't done this, stop sleeping on it. Super easy to do. It actually fixed my hood. When I bought it, my hood release wasn't fulling releasing and I had to pry to lift the hood to get the latch. Not anymore. And all the room it opened up not having the hood prop. Raises the hood much higher. Super stiff struts

This addition is significantly easier than expected. The fit is perfect. The quality of parts is exceptional and the entire project could’ve taken five minutes, but cleaning up areas underneath the bolts that I removed made it a 10 minute project.

Bought this and one of the ball heads on the gasket was WAYYY to tight to fir to the provided bracket. No issue with Z1 though, i message them and asked for replacement and they sent a new order without questions asked. Made is super helpful. Love shopping with Z1.

A nice and affordable upgrade, and easy to install. The plastic on my hood prop had finally cracked off, this is a convenient improvement, no need to avoid hitting the prop rod anymore.

Easy install and work great. However, make sure you get new hood stops and maybe a new hood latch to enjoy the new shock lift or your hood will stick closed and makes for a real PITA to get open.

They fit perfectly and made opening and closing the hood of my 2014 Xterra so much easier. No more prop rod! The best part is no holes had to be drilled and the struts use existing nuts and bolts. The only somewhat tricky part is getting the little locking pins off and back on. I just used some small needle nose pliers and pulled on the little circle on the ends of each one of the four. You don't have to pull hard--just enough to get them out of their seating. The rest you can do with you fingers, including putting them back on when the struts are seated on the balls. But be very careful not to drop them as they are little. If they drop into the engine bay you'll never find them again. Pull them off when the struts are out, on a table. When you put them back on, when the struts are on the hood, but a towel under the strut areas in case you drop one. This is a great product that makes a big difference.

Direct bolt on with no issues. Took about 10 minutes and work great!!! I really like the ends are metal and not plastic, on the struts.

This product is awesome, only about 20 minutes to install, if you need instructions after you order, look at your order and there's a link to download and print, or just read it online and go. Hood opens farther and goes up and down with ease. These guys are awesome. I wish I had more money so i could buy more stuff.

Great product! Would suggest you include installation instructions, specifically that the retaining pin MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE INSTALLATION. There are several YouTube videos out there but none that I saw made a point to say that you need to pull the retaining pin off that secures the strut in place before installing. I have installed at least a dozen struts and none of the other ones I have installed required removing the retainer... you just set them in place and gave them a smack with the palm of your hand and they pop right on. A note in the box would have saved me calling your company to fi d this out. Other than that, great product!

This product is significantly better than the made-overseas alternative sold by many other places. That being said, there is one thing to note. As with the other version, some may find that the upper brackets make contact with the hood where they shouldn't (the wing with the ball receiver riveted to it), especially since when loaded, that contact point becomes the bigger weight bearing location. One solution is to add washer(s) to this bracket to increase clearance, however this didn't sit right with me, and also given the flex of the metal bracket when supporting the weight of the hood, it would've taken several washers. Instead, I used an angle grinder to shave down the wing until it wasn't making contact. I should note that the original amount of contact it made in that spot was still significantly less than the alternative product, which was unusable. First time closing the hood, it was very stiff, but some gentle persuasion got it down without breaking anything. The upper brackets location where the hoods weight is supported seems questionable to me, but appears the bear it's own weight effectively, and though it bounces a bit when it opens, it hasn't shown any sign of bending the hood. Overall the quality is good, but I do wish there was less chrome on the gas arms.

These are a game changer… Hood struts for the win! Light bracket or not, the struts make the hood open smooth and slightly more than the stupid prop rod. Added stability with two support points over the one prop spot also.

When my hood popped up like magic without a prop rod it made my pp tingle

Super easy to install, but do note, only do one bolt at a time and secure your hood well. Luckily my fingers weren't in there :) I love these. Goodbye prop stick forever!

These work great. The hood opens wider now than it did with factory prop. Simple install but having someone hold the hood in place helps a lot.

These make it so much easier to work in the engine bay. The hood is slightly higher than the OEM hood prop. Plus they look amazing.

Super easy to install... I did have to grind a bit off of the upper mount so it would fit flush, but overall everything lined up great. It works beautifully too. My only regret is that I didn't do this until after I changed my spark plugs!

Fantastic alternative to the old school hood prop rod! Bought something similar for a vintage Landcruiser after installing this on my ‘09 Nissan XTerra

Great addition to my Xterra. Now my hood opens farther and I don’t have the hood prop in the way now. Easiest install ever. 15 min. Maybe you should send 1 black and 1 white Z-1 stickers.

Amazing upgrade for the xterra! Easy installation

I happened across this product while just browsing, and I had no idea a kit like this existed until now. I had toyed with doing a similar mod, which would’ve involved drilling holes and installing mounting points (way more work!) and had held off. Well, wait no more! This kit is amazing, and could not be simpler to install. It legitimately took me less than 20 minutes to install, and it works flawlessly. Just remember to remove the plastic support bar holder piece from the old hood rod, so you don’t crush it like I did lol. I cannot recommend this product enough, it is such a simple yet useful mod that I can’t believe I lived without. Buy it now, just do it!
