This is the PCV valve located on the passenger's side valve cover under the Elbow PCV Hose. The PCV Valve (Short for Positive Crankcase Ventilation) is an important and often forgotten component on most vehicles. These valves manage the small and continual amount of blow-by that is typical on internal combustion engines by venting the excess crankcase gasses during operation. This greatly reduces the chance for oil leaks and sludge buildup.
